Direct to court

The paperwork completed, the forms signed – so you can go straight to court, without delay

How we can help

If mediation isn’t suitable for your situation, or you’ve chosen to proceed through the family court, you still need the right documentation in place before you can get started. A MIAM (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting) has been a legal requirement since 2014; couples must attend their individual session before applying to the family court.

Our Direct to Court service handles everything you need to proceed. We complete your MIAM appointment and prepare and complete the court forms required to issue proceedings – so you can move forward with confidence.

Proceed to court without delay

Once your MIAM is complete and your forms are ready, you’re in a position to issue court proceedings straight away. We’ll ensure everything is prepared and signed so there’s no waiting for documentation that holds up your next step.

Everything in one place

Your MIAM, your C100, or Form A – handled by one team. You won’t need to source different services or piece together the paperwork yourself. We manage the process from start to finish.

Expert guidance at every step

You get access to accredited family mediators and a family law specialist. You’re not just getting forms completed; you’re getting the right advice about the process ahead.

Fixed cost, no surprises

You’ll know exactly what you’re paying before you start. One fixed fee covers everything in the Direct to Court package, with no hidden extras.

What’s the process?

“I’ve decided to go to court. I just need everything in order so I can move forward.”

1. Get in touch

We’ll use our free 15-minute consultation to understand your situation and confirm Direct to Court is the right route for you.

2. Your MIAM

This is a confidential individual meeting with an accredited family mediator to assess your situation, confirm that mediation is not suitable or required, and provide the documentation needed to proceed.

3. Consultation with a family law specialist

You’ll have the opportunity to speak with one of our family law specialists, who can help you understand the court process and what to expect.

4. Completion of your court forms

We complete your C100 and Form A – which are required to initiate family court proceedings. These are signed by your mediator, confirming attendance at a MIAM and that mediation is not appropriate.

5. Move forward

With your documentation complete, you’re ready to issue court proceedings and take the next step.

Frequently Asked Questions

Direct to Court is a package for couples who have decided to proceed through the family court, or where mediation has been assessed as unsuitable for their situation. To apply to the family court, you’ll need to have had a MIAM (a legal requirement since 2014), and have the right forms ready.

If you’re unsure whether court is the right route, our free 15-minute consultation is a good place to start.

We can often get you in within 24 hours. Once your MIAM is complete and your forms are signed and ready, you’re in a position to issue proceedings immediately.

The Direct to Court Package includes completion of the C100 form (used to apply to court for child arrangements, prohibited steps, or specific issues) and Form A (used to apply for a financial order). Our team will confirm which forms apply to your situation.

Once your documentation is in place, you submit your application to the court directly. Our team can advise you on what to expect from the court process.

The Direct to Court package costs £450 and includes:

  • Individual MIAM meetings
  • Consultation with a family law specialist
  • Completion of the C100 court form or Form A

Note that the court fee is not included in the package.

Mediation is worth understanding before you make a decision on how to proceed. It’s a process where a trained, neutral mediator helps you and your ex-partner work through the key issues (finances, property, arrangements for children) and reach an agreement together, rather than having those decisions made by a court. It’s faster, significantly less expensive, and produces an agreement with the same legal weight as a court order when formalised into a consent order.

Mediation isn’t right for every situation – but it’s suitable for more people than many assume, so it’s worth discussing with our team before committing to court proceedings. If you’d like to understand whether it could work for your situation, we offer a free 15-minute consultation and can talk you through your options honestly, without any pressure to choose a particular route.
