Agreed is our complete separation service. From your initial MIAM through to a legally binding consent order, we handle the whole process: one team and one fixed fee. You won’t need to piece together different services; everything is managed through UKMS.

One fixed cost

Agreed is a fixed-fee package. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying before you start, with no hidden extras, no hourly billing, and no unexpected costs as the process progresses. In comparison, a contested court process typically costs £10,000-£30,000 in legal fees alone.

Resolved in weeks, not months

The legal divorce process in the UK takes a minimum of 26 weeks. Mediation means you can have everything agreed, documented and ready to finalise the moment you’re able to. Most clients complete the mediation process within three to four weeks, so there’s no delay when it matters.

The Agreed service doesn’t stop at a Memorandum of Understanding and Open Financial Statement. Your agreement is formalised into a consent order – a legally binding, court-approved document that provides lasting certainty and prevents future financial claims.

What’s the process?

1. Get in touch

We’ll talk you through your situation and confirm whether Agreed is the right route.

2. Your MIAM

A 1 hour, confidential meeting with a family mediator, where you can explain your situation in detail and your mediator will outline the process and your options.

3. We invite the other party

We contact the other person and invite them to their own separate MIAM.

4. Joint mediation sessions

You work through what needs to be agreed, with your mediator guiding the process. Sessions are attended online.

5. Document your agreement

Once you’ve reached agreement, your mediator captures everything in a Memorandum of Understanding and Open Financial Statement – a clear, written record of what you’ve both agreed and how you have come to that agreement.

6. Consent order

Your agreement is drawn up as a legally binding consent order and submitted for court approval.

7. Move forward

With a legally binding agreement in place, both parties can move forward with clarity and certainty.

Agreed is designed for couples who’ve made the decision to move forward and want to do so without the cost or conflict of court. If both parties are open to working through things – finances, property, child arrangements – this service handles everything in one place.

When using solicitors, each party typically instructs their own, and much of the process plays out between them – which can be slow, expensive, and is often adversarial. Costs can quickly reach £10,000-£30,000 for a contested case, and you have limited control over the pace or outcome.

Agreed works differently. Rather than two separate legal teams negotiating on your behalf, you and your ex-partner work through decisions together with a mediator guiding the process. The mediators are all also qualified solicitors (practicing or non-practicing), and you can still formalise a consent order so the outcome carries the same legal weight, at a fraction of the cost. For couples who want to mediate, Agreed is a faster, more cost-effective route to a legally binding resolution.

Most clients complete the mediation process within three to four weeks. More complex cases (for example, involving business assets, overseas properties, or multiple pensions) may take a bit longer.

In the UK, the divorce process takes a minimum of 26 weeks (roughly 6 months) – with waiting periods designed to allow couples time to reflect and arrange their affairs. Mediation runs alongside this timeline, meaning you can have everything agreed and in place well before you need it.

Our Agreed service costs £1,099 and covers the complete journey from first meeting to legally binding agreement:

  • Your initial MIAMs (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting) – this is always conducted separately.
  • Joint mediation sessions – online, including shuttle sessions where preferred.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding and Open Financial Statement, setting out everything you’ve agreed.
  • A legally binding consent order, progressed through our legal partner.
  • Child Arrangements documents, where relevant, included at no additional charge.

If you’re eligible for the government’s £500 Family Mediation Voucher, you can use this to reduce the total cost of the Agreed service.

Yes, the Agreed service begins with each party having their own separate MIAM, which gives both of you the chance to ask questions about the law, legal process and options, and decide whether to proceed. If one party isn’t willing to engage, we can talk you through alternative options and next steps. Note that Agreed is only suitable for couples that are willing to mediate together.

However, if full agreement isn’t reached, your mediator will discuss the options available to you. Where mediation isn’t suitable or you’re not able to reach an agreement, your mediator can sign the documentation needed to proceed to a family court.
